GDPR UPDATE 2018
General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) – Effective 25th May 2018
New legislation means you control how we collect, use and store your personal data. GDPR covers the protection of personal data, protection against unlawful processing of such, and unrestricted movement of such within the EU.
1. Personal data
1.1 AVIATIONLEARNING.NET will use data collected from you for the following purposes:
- Marketing (see 7 - ‘Your rights’)
- AVIATIONLEARNING.NET approved course(s)
- Quotations
- Certification
1.2 When you contact AVIATIONLEARNING.NET you are consenting to ongoing dialogue, which you can request to ‘opt out’ at any stage (see 7 - ‘Your rights’)
1.3 You will be asked to provide personal data and complete AVIATIONLEARNING.NET forms, as and when requested by AVIATIONLEARNING.NET approved personnel. This information will be used solely for the purpose of producing appropriate certification with this information as required under CAA/EASA legislation, and stored as per our data retention policy (see 4 – ‘Retaining and deleting personal data’)

3. Providing your personal data to others
3.1 - AVIATIONLEARNING.NET do not pass your personal data on to any third party companies.
3.2 – AVIATIONLEARNING.NET may be required to disclose your personal data where necessary and solely for compliance with a legal obligation (including validation of technical qualifications), to protect your vital interests or the vital interests of another natural person. AVIATIONLEARNING.NET may also disclose your personal data where such disclosure is necessary for the establishment, exercise or defence of legal claims, whether in court proceedings or in an administrative or out-of-court procedure.
3.3 – Financial transactions: financial services GDPR rules for the customer and supplier banks or other service providers will apply.
No customer financial data will be passed onto a third company without permission.
AVIATIONLEARNING.NET may be required to disclose your personal financial data where necessary and solely for compliance with a legal obligation, to protect your vital interests or the vital interests of another natural person. AVIATIONLEARNING.NET may also disclose your personal financial data where such disclosure is necessary for the establishment, exercise or defence of legal claims, whether in court proceedings or in an administrative or out-of-court procedure.
3.4 – Data obtained is secured on a remote server at our UK Head Office with access restricted to Accountable Manager authorised AVIATIONLEARNING.NET personnel only. Access to this data will be only as required in line with AVIATIONLEARNING.NET business and our legal obligations.
3.5 – No personal information held by AVIATIONLEARNING.NET is stored outside the European Economic Area (EEA).
4. Retaining and deleting personal data
Our data retention policies and procedures are designed to ensure we comply with our legal obligations and all personal data that AVIATIONLEARNING.NET process will not be kept longer than is necessary for that purpose.
Personal data obtained will be retained for a maximum of 3 years where retention of such information is essential for compliance with legal obligations to which we are subject. Data no longer required after the 3-year period will be deleted and/or confidentially destroyed.
5. Disclosure
When requested, some personal information may be forwarded to the UK CAA in line to meet our legal, regulatory and governmental obligations.
